Wren was alone. It was a strange feeling, being without any of her children, whom were all at home- being babysat by her younger brother. She did feel guilty, leaving him alone with all four of them, but the twins weren't so tiny anymore, and thankfully they had become very good sleepers, and it was nap time... She had needed this. Things were tough, Zach had gotten hurt on a mission for the Order, his memory had been effected- sometimes she wasn't sure if he even knew who she was. It had been rough on Wren indeed, needing to care for the children and her husband.
It was difficult to not lose hope, memory wasn't something the healers could fix. It would either come back on its own, or... Well, Wren didn't really want to think about the alternative. She simply knew that this was far too much for her to handle on her own. She even felt guilt at getting out of the house alone for a few hours, but this was something she needed to do. Wren had walked slowly through the cemetery, her feet bare in the parched grass, the stiff, yellowed blades poked at her feet, but she hardly noticed. She came to a stop in front of a specific grave.
Violet and Jordan Cooper's final resting place. Come December, they would have been gone for two years, the thought of that, along with everything else she had been going through, brought tears to her eyes. Wren had been fighting them back for quite some time, she didn't cry in front of the children, she needed to keep a strong visage for them. Normally she saved her tears until bedtime, when she would routinely cry herself to sleep, her pillow pressed over her mouth to muffle her sobs, avoid waking anyone up. Wren got down on the ground, tucking her legs beside her.
She lovingly cleared some brush from the top of the headstone, used her finger to dig out the accumulated dirt from the engraving, her eyes filming over with tears. The first few teardrops fell, and then, as if some sort of emotional dam in her chest had burst, Wren started wailing shamelessly, she didn't care who heard. The pain of a still recent loss, and the prospect of not knowing if Zach would ever remember all they had been through, being the sole caretaker for four small children, she had reached her emotional limit. Wren didn't even care even as she heard someone approaching her...
